
The Duchess of York, patron of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, officially opens the hospice’s Possum Room, which has been adapted for Islanders with the disease.

A joint appeal for £290,000, to fund a new day unit and additional nurses, was launched by Lady Pamela Hicks. 290 balloons were released from the grounds of Fairlee each representing £1,000 of the sum to be raised.
